The FRYM Presents Warm Air in France

This August, The FRYM presented Warm Air, their first exhibition in France, held from 15–30 August in the historic village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne.
Across two rooms of the gallery, the exhibition brought together figurative and landscape paintings created with natural pigments, egg tempera and acrylic. The works were made in response to the character of the space, complementing its natural stone walls through a shared sense of materiality and texture.
Materials sit at the heart of The FRYM’s practice. Much of the paint used for Warm Air was handmade using traditional techniques, while the artist also creates their own canvases from natural linen.
For The FRYM, this approach is both an artistic and environmental choice. Making their own materials and tools helps reduce their carbon footprint, while allowing the artist to explore traditional methods and consider how they can be reinterpreted within contemporary painting.
Following Warm Air in France, a selection of works from the exhibition will be presented to a London audience at The Other Art Fair, 8–11 October.
